Bison Wool Patch

Wear your bona fides on your sleeve! Or cap, or bike bag, or wherever! The official Chicago Bison Obstinacy’s patch is embroidered on real bison wool felt donated by the Buffalo Wool Company! While cool on its own, it will also host the Bison or Bust! Ride destination names when they become available, encircling and adorning this patch’s borders. Just like the commemorative bandana, every penny of this patch’s sale will go towards funding one elder and one youth From the Potawotami tribe (for whom Nachusa is ancestral) to join the Buffalo Field Campaign’s field operations. The Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) protects Yellowstone bison roaming outside the park from Montana cattle ranchers, who kill the bison. The BFC also facilitates the redistribution of bison from federal herds to those of tribal peoples. Attending this field immersion is critical for Indigenous People to witness the complexities of the Interagency Bison Management Plan's (IBMP) bison culling to arguably arbitrary wild Buffalo population targets. The components of the spring cull include; MT zero tolerance of wild bison, hazing and roundup of bison into capture facilities and shipment to slaughter & quarantine/translocation, MT Fish, Wildlife and Parks hunting permits and Indigenous treaty purpose harvest. BFC and our partners advocate for Tribal Co-stewardship of Yellowstone Buffalo. Through outreach & education to Indigenous Communities like the Potawatomi, the BFC builds a growing coalition for the promotion of Traditional Ecological Knowledge in the management of our last wild bison.
